…and the block is added to the timechain.

Satoshi Nakamoto, in the Bitcoin source code, November 2008

Every coin is a Bitcoin Rune.

Timechain is a launchpad for pump.fun. A coin trades at Solana speed, priced in Bitcoin, and is carved into the timechain as a real Rune that holders can move to Bitcoin and back, one for one.

One coin, two chains: the speed of Solana, the permanence of Bitcoin.

What a Timechain coin is

Each line links to the page that shows it.

  • Solana

Trades on pump.fun, priced in Bitcoin.

The coin is paired with WBTC, so its price is in Bitcoin. Buyers can pay with SOL, converted in the same transaction. How a launch works

  • Bitcoin

Etched on Bitcoin as a Rune.

Right after launch, with the coin’s picture, details and Solana mint address in the Rune’s parent inscription. Fixed supply. How the Rune is made

  • Bitcoin

    No person holds the key.

The Rune’s whole supply sits at the coin’s own Bitcoin address, held by a program on the Internet Computer. How custody works

  • Solana and Bitcoin

Moves one for one between the chains.

Send it to your own Taproot address in Xverse, UniSat or OKX, and back to your Solana wallet. How the bridge works

  • Anyone

    Checked in your own browser.

Rebuild a coin’s custody address, read the Runes there and the tokens on Solana, and compare. Verify a coin

  • Fees

Fees pay holders and burn $TIMECHAIN.

80% of a coin’s creator fees goes to its holders and 20% goes to the platform: 15% buys and burns $TIMECHAIN and 5% runs Timechain. Locked at launch. Fees and costs

From launch to Bitcoin

Issue on Bitcoin, trade on Solana. A coin’s life, in the order it happens.

  1. Solana

    Launch

Name, ticker, picture and one approval in a Solana wallet. One quote in SOL covers everything, shown before you approve.

  2. Solana

    Trade on pump.fun

Paired with WBTC, so the price is in Bitcoin, at Solana speed. See the board

  3. Bitcoin

    Etched as a Rune

Bitcoin assigns the Rune a reserved name, so there is no name race and no wait. The brand lives in the parent inscription.

  4. Bitcoin and back

    Bridge 1:1

Lock tokens on Solana to receive the Rune at your Taproot address, or send the Rune back to release the tokens.

The Bitcoin side opens in stages: etching first, then the bridge to Bitcoin, then the way back to Solana.

Why Runes needed this

Runes went live at Bitcoin block 840,000, in April 2024, at the fourth halving: Bitcoin’s own fungible tokens, its memecoins.

Bitcoin is too slow to trade them. A block comes about every ten minutes and there are no pools: to sell a Rune you list it, wait for a buyer, then wait for a block. Memecoins live on speed.

Timechain keeps the Rune on Bitcoin and puts the trading on Solana.

“Timechain” is Satoshi’s own word for the blockchain, in the pre-release Bitcoin source of 2008.

WhatA Rune on Bitcoin aloneA Rune on Timechain
Trading List it, wait for a buyer, then wait for a block. On pump.fun at Solana speed. The curve always quotes a price.
Price Set one listing at a time. In Bitcoin, from the coin’s WBTC pair, with every trade.
Name Raced and rationed: first come, forever. Assigned by Bitcoin, like a contract address. The brand lives in metadata, so two coins can share a name.
Details A name and one symbol character. Picture, name, ticker and Solana mint address, inscribed in the Rune’s parent inscription.

Who holds the Runes

A program does, and the program checks its own books. Its key is split across the Internet Computer’s nodes: no person holds it, Timechain included, and there is no backup key.

Custody
The Rune’s whole supply sits at the coin’s own Bitcoin address, held by a canister on the Internet Computer. How it works
Before it moves
The canister reads Solana and Bitcoin itself before it moves anything.
The bridge program
On Solana it can only lock and release tokens. It cannot create them. The bridge

Anyone can check this for any coin, in their own browser. Verify a coin

What it costs

Costs are shown before you approve. The fee split is locked on chain at launch: nobody can change it, Timechain included.

Launching

The launcher pays for their launch: pump.fun’s coin creation, the Solana gas, and the Rune fee, the Bitcoin network fee to etch it. One quote in SOL, shown before approval.

If Bitcoin fees jump above the quote, the etch waits rather than overspend.

Trading

pump.fun’s own fee. The coin’s creator fee is split on chain by pump.fun’s fee sharing: 80% to the coin’s holders and 20% to Timechain. 15% of every coin’s creator fees buys and burns $TIMECHAIN and 5% runs Timechain.

Until $TIMECHAIN is live, its share collects and waits for the first buy.

Bridging to Bitcoin

A SOL fee that covers the Bitcoin network fee of your payout, shown before approval. The Rune arrives at your own Taproot address.
